Port Royal, Jamaica, 1689.
Francis, a freshly minted Navy cadet, returns home to confront the truth of the system he has unwittingly embraced: the people are impoverished, and the system he once believed in is responsible. Inside the Navy, his mentor is resolute in keeping Francis from getting involved in his piracy, even if the cause is noble and despite Francis’s begging. This leaves Francis torn between unquestioning loyalty to his mentor and a growing desire for the justice he believes the pirates represent.
DIALOGUE EXTRACT
The first scene is the introduction of the Council of Admiralty of Port Royal , a meeting between the attendees. The second scene is between the main character of this tory and his father, present in the Admiralty.
